Are you a Parent with a Disability?
'Parents Power' may be able to help you…..
We are an organisation providing support, information (and fun!!) for parents with disabilities and their families.
We are funded by Bexley Council and we are part of Carers' Support (Bexley), a registered charity.
'Parents Power' meets twice a month for Group Support Meetings on the second Saturday of every month 2pm-4pm and the last Monday of every month 4.30pm-6.30pm where we have interesting activities and visiting speakers/ entertainers for both parents and children. Staff and volunteers are available to assist with playing and caring for your children during meetings.
These informal meetings are held at The Inspire Community Trust, Slade Green (which is a fully accessible building with free parking) and enables parents with a disability and their children the chance to exchange information and experiences as well as to access information about parenting with a disability. We also provide free refreshments and help with transport and/or the cost of transport.
We also organise regular family outings with appropriate transport suitable for all disabilities. Exciting destinations include theme parks, seaside trips, bowling, cinema, theatre etc etc!!
We also have a strong committee dedicated to the needs of parents with disabilities and their families, actively raising awareness so that positive changes can be made within the Borough of Bexley.
